Linda Traded For A Jeep
Linda had been looking on the internet for a used Jeep, but couldn't
find one that she liked with low mileage. Stacey and I were going to
lunch and went past Don Franklin Chevy-GMC just outside of Burkesville
and I saw a red Jeep setting on their used car lot. After we ate lunch,
we stopped and I hopped out of the Equinox and gave it a quick once
over. It was a hard top, with an automatic transmission, AC, PW, PDL and
new tires. I thought Linda would like it, so I drove up to a salesman
standing outside and asked a few questions. Just so happened that the
Jeep was his and he knew all about it. After a few minutes I told him we
might be back to look at it and he said "You better be quick because
I've had three calls on it already and I just put it on the net this
morning." I called Linda and told her she should go look at it as soon
as she was done at the school. About 20 minutes before she should have
gotten off, she called and was already taking it for a test drive.
She
wanted to buy it, so I told her to go ahead and make the deal. I told
her I was on the way with the check book. I stopped at the bank and
transferred money into the checking account and then went to the
dealership. Linda pulled the check book out of my pocket and the Jeep
was ours. We quickly removed the stuff she had in the Thunderbird and
tossed it in the back of the Equinox. Linda and Stacey headed for the
house in the Jeep. They were all smiles when I pulled in behind them in
our driveway.

Pacers - Spurs Game
We arrived in Daleville around 1:30 PM on Saturday and unloaded our
things. Linda took Stacey and went to see Reba in Pendleton. They
returned with a pizza just in time to watch the Pacer game on TV.
Sunday,
I took the two leaded glass windows out of the tax sale house while
Linda and Stacey picked up cans and trash around the yards. Linda helped
hold the windows for me once I had them loose. I carried them over to
Mom's old house and Linda wiped them down to get the bird crap and dirt
off. That was when we noticed how warped the leaded glass was inside the
window frames that were fairly straight.
Linda
K & Imon came over and we all talked for a while. Then Jim Cooper
dropped in to drink a beer while we talked. Jim stayed about an hour,
then left, Imon & Linda left a little after that.
Monday we just
hung around waiting on time to go to the Pacer game in Indy. We ate
sandwiches from Elbert's Lounge around 2 PM, then showered and left for
Indy at 5 PM. I had entered our parking lot location into the GPS the
time before, so we drove right to it, parked the Equinox and went in
Banker's Life Fieldhouse. Our seats were in row 13, so we were able to
go down to court level and take pictures. i took one of Stacey standing
on the court.
I
was also able to get a lucky shot of the Pacemates huddling right before
going onto the floor. I was looking for something to take pictures of
when Boomer, the Pacer's mascot, litteraly stuck his nose up against my
cameral lens. I pulled the camera away from my eye and he backed up, I
took a quick shot of Boomer.
As
soon as I had taken that picture, Boomer started messing with Stacey,
trying to steal her popcorn, so I took another picture. That dang cat!
When Boomer moved on, I went back to taking pictures of the players, Tim
Duncan is one of Stacey's favorites.
David
West had been a Pacer player last year and this was his first return to
Banker's Life Fieldhouse. Stacey doesn't usually like guys that have
been traded, but she does like West. It was finally time for the tip off
and the game started with the Pacers getting a decent lead.
Another
shot of Tim Duncan, this time during the game at the foul line. The
Pacers held on to the lead with Monta Ellis making some clutch baskets
and free throws.
Near
the very end of the game, Paul George had to make some free throws to
clinch the victory. The Pacers won 98 to 91.
After
the game, we drove back to Anderson and ate a late dinner at
Steak'n'Shake, then to Daleville and called it a night.
Tuesday
morning, we packed our things, picked up breakfast at McDonalds and
headed home. We didn't stop at Kingfish due to the Interstate 65 exit
being closed. We made it home by 1:30 CST.
It was a fun trip, but all
of us were tired. Linda and Stacey took the title for the Thunderbird to
the car dealership and then stopped at the State Farm Insurance office
to get the Jeep insured. We did take Daisy for a run before dark.

Tree Trimming
Tri-County Electric is having an independent crew trimming
trees that are within 15 feet of the power line. They worked on the
trees on both sides of the driveway going down to the pole barn. They
asked if I had any trees I wanted trimmed and I told them I did. They
said they could not do the work while they were on the clock, but they
would come back and do what I needed done. They showed up a few minutes
after 5 PM and trimmed the walnut tree that had limbs hanging on the
roof of the old smoke house. It took them about 45 minutes to cut the
limbs, pick up all the debris and mulch it into the back of their truck.
The
limbs inside the fire pit are ones we've picked up over the winter.

Picnic & Egg Hunt
Brent brought his family over early Saturday morning. We caught up on
our conversations and played with the dogs while Linda baked a ham. We
took the two bigger dogs across the creek and let Pepper and Daisy run
together around the hay fields. It settled Pepper down after keeping up
with Daisy around all the fields. I put Daisy back in the barn stall and
parked the Mule behind the house. We loaded the food in the back and
everyone filled up the seats, then we headed down to the shelter house
and ate a picnic lunch while Brent started a small fire in the fire pit.
Linda and I had filled 110 plastic eggs with various kinds of candy and
loose change for the egg hunt. Pauline and Linda went to the house and
brought back the eggs, then I took Julie and Kyle on a Mule ride to a
place they like to dink around in the water that flows out of the
hillside. The others hid the eggs before we came back. I parked the Mule
and the kids jumped out, I set the camera's timer and took our picture
right before they started hunting eggs.
Ready,
set, go. Julie and Kyle raced around the area finding all the eggs they
could, sometimes dropping an egg out of their bags and the other kid
picking it up later.
After
about 20 minutes, we stopped the hunt and counted the eggs. Eight eggs
were still hidden, so back to the hunt. All eggs were finally accounted
for, so they opened them up and began eating candy.
We
went to the house and ate some of the chocolate pie Linda had baked,
then went back to the shelter house to burn some more wood. Kyle made
Linda and I feel great when he was setting by the fire and said, "I love
this life!" Kyle lasted as long as he could, but finally laid down on
the rocks with a jacket under his head and went to sleep by the fire.
Brent
carried him to the Mule when we all rode to the house. None of us lasted
very long after we went inside. It was a good day!
