I Made It
Whew! It was a rough 3 weeks. I guess I had the flu. I started with a little cough on a Wednesday and it steadily became worse. By the weekend, my lungs were hurting and I was blowing the top of my head off when I coughed. My eyeballs were ready to explode by the time I went to the doctor's office the next Wednesday. They gave me a shot in the hip and come up with COPD inhalers as a fix. I picked them up at the pharmacy and went home. I think those things would have killed me if I kept using them. The shot helped a little bit by getting rid of the pressure on my eyes. Linda had picked me up some prescription cough syrup that killed the urge to cough and that helped too. I lost all my appetite and fluid for the next week. I could lay in bed, but not setup for any amount of time. Finally during the weekend, I began to eat one thing a day and continued like that until my appetite began to return. The fluid loss continued until yesterday. I don't have much energy yet, but it is returning as I eat more each day.

Linda's Birthday
The weather was supposed to be nicer and the temperature was forecast in
the lower 60s, so Linda wanted to be outside on Saturday. She dinked
around most of the day while I did a couple of things. Stacey had
stumbled and fell going to the storage shed, so I was assigned the job
of using the tractor to grade the trail where Stacey walks down the
hill. It wasn't bad at all, but I took the time to smooth it anyway.
When Linda came inside about 5:30 PM, I asked her if she wanted to go
eat at Applebee's. At first she said no, then changed her mind, so we
loaded into the Malibu and rode towards Glasgow. Linda talked to her Mom
while we were on the Cumberland Parkway, then said good bye and we went
inside to eat. We ordered our meals and talked until the waiter brought
our food.
The
place was just about full and it took a little longer, but the steaks
were just right. We finished eating and our drinks, then headed back
home.

Shamrock Cake
Stacey was having a little trouble Wednesday most of the day. When Linda
came home about 3 PM, she gave Stacey 10mg Valium and it seemed to
straighten her up for a little while. We decided to give her another 5mg
at 6 PM with the hope of completely shutting down her problems. It
worked until Thursday morning. I went in at 6:15 to tell Linda she
needed to get up to go to work, but she said she was staying home. We
watched Stacey while she stayed on the couch most of the day and we
ended up giving her 10mg of Valium at 5 PM. Linda baked some heart
shaped cakes and we put them in the form of a shamrock for her to take
to school for St. Patrick's Day with the second graders. We mixed the
food coloring with the icing until we had the green for the leaves and
another color for the stem. Linda spread the icing on the cake and then
we dropped some sprinkles over each cake.

St Patrick's Party
Linda took the Shamrock Cake to the school for Ms Jennifer's class. The
kids were excited and Ms Jennifer let the girls and then the boys take a
look at the cake. Then the party was started.
They
also had a search in the classroom, although they didn't find a
leprechaun,
they did find a "Pot of Gold"!

Kyle To The Emergency Room
Pauline and Brent came to the farm with their kids Friday evening. We
went to Albany to eat and then spent the evening chatting about recent
occurrences
Saturday morning we went outside and picked up fallen
limbs and debris. Brent started a fire in the fire pit while Julie and
Kyle played in the creek and on the gravel pile near the pole barn. I
had found a large rock that I wanted to place in the circle of rocks
around the fire pit, so Brent drove the tractor with the scoop and back
hoe over from the shed. He let Julie and Kyle ride with him.
We
sat around and watched the kids go back and forth between the creek and
the gravel pile as the fire burned down. Around 3:30 PM we decided to go
inside. We snacked and watched the kids play in the living room. All of
a sudden, Kyle slipped and hit his chin on the hardwood floor. Brent and
Pauline determined that his cut was wide enough that he needed to go to
the emergency room and maybe get stitches. Pauline and Linda kept him
quiet and cleaned the blood off while Brent and I put the car seat in
the back of the HHR. Brent strapped Kyle in the seat and we headed to
the hospital in Burkesville with Brent riding in the back too. Brent
carried Kyle in the hospital and then I took him in the ER while Brent
checked him in at the desk. The nurse looked at his chin and said, yep
he needed stitches, so they prepared the equipment for the doctor. Brent
came into the ER when he finished giving the receptionist the
information they needed. Kyle was wore out from his day of play outside,
so he just laid on the exam table and slept. Doctor Flowers came in and
began the treatment by injecting the wound with a numbing agent. That
was the only part that caused Kyle to really cry hard. Then Doctor
Flowers quickly placed 5 stitches in Kyle's chin and put on a bandage.
He was done, so Brent and I thanked him and we were out of there.
Probably less than 30 minutes from the time we walked into the hospital.
Sunday
morning, Kyle was playing and acting normal with no problems from his
chin.

Third Snow
We had another snow this morning, it was the worst of the season, so
far. I'd guess it was 1/2" deep and was gone by noon.
We
have had a total of 3 snows that all have been melted before noon.

IN For Easter
We packed the Malibu during the day and when Linda came home from the
school, we jumped into the car and headed to IN. I drove for a couple of
hours, then we stopped before we went through Louisville and ate supper
at Fazoli's. The next stop was in Chesterfield for groceries and then to
Mom's house in Daleville. Linda turned the furnace up to 70 degrees
while I turned on the water, then we carried our things into the house.
After
a night's sleep, we had breakfast, then went to see Virginia at the
Woodland's Nursing Home in Muncie, IN. She was setting in the dinning
area with some other residents, so we joined them. Most of the visit was
pretty good, Mom was fairly cognent. She didn't want to eat the meal
they had brought for her, so we went to her room to talk some more.
The
talk was nice for a while, then for some reason, Mom became mad and the
conversation went bad quickly. I told her if she was going to be mad, we
would leave, she didn't care, so we said good bye and hugged her, then
we left. The visit had probably lasted about an hour and a half. We
headed back to Daleville and picked up a pizza on the way. We ate and
rested for a hour, then Linda called her Mom and we headed to Reba's
house in Pendleton. Nana met us at the door and we sat down in the
living room to talk.
The
visit with Nana was a good one that lasted over two hours when Linda
said we needed to go back to Daleville. We hugged her and talked all the
way to the curb, then climbed into the Malibu and went to Daleville for
the night.
Sunday morning, Linda realized that we had brought
Stacey's pills, but were missing one type that she needed. With that in
mind, we decided to head back to KY early. We stopped at Harvest Market
in Chesterfield for some Cokes and bumped in to Dick Stevenson in the
parking lot. He was headed into the store, so I walked through with him
and we talked while Linda picked up the Cokes.
Linda
called Imon and we went past Linda K and his house on the way. We went
inside and talked with them about his recent surgery on his toes and
other things. He was doing fairly well. We told them good bye after
about 45 minutes and headed on home. The trip went well and we made it
home about 3:30 PM. We immediately gave Stacey the three tablets she had
missed with her morning pills.
