Back Home
We kept Julie and Kyle busy, most of the time in the house because it
was raining off and on most of the weekend. We went outside a few times
to ride in the Mule, let Daisy run and go to the 'pop sickle' barn.
Monday,
Brent instant messaged me and said they were at the airport in Seattle
and were about ready to board their plane. He said they were flying
through Dallas, then to Canada and back to Nashville. He let me know
they were at PAX-Prime
instead of Comic-Con, so I changed my previous post to correct that. We
left the farm at 4 PM to take Julie, Kyle and the dogs back to Smith's
Grove. Julie and Kyle were real excited to see their Mom and Dad when
they opened the door to the house. We could tell Pauline and Brent had
missed them too. We heard some of the stories about what had happened in
Seattle and we told them we hadn't had any trouble with the kids. After
the excitement had worn off and then saying 'bye', we left and headed
back to the farm in Burkesville.

Finish Mower
About 2 weeks ago, one of the support arms on the Woods finish mower had
fell off while I was mowing. Where the arm bolts to the frame had been
bent in and then eventually the bolts had been worn until they broke. I
had taken the arm and had a piece of pipe welded into the bolt hole to
keep it from collapsing when I replaced the arm and tightened the new
bolts. This seemed to work fairly well, so I had removed the other three
arms and had the same procedure done to those. Stacey and I picked up
those pieces at American
Street Rod Garage and returned to the farm. I parked the tractor in
the pole barn and put those pieces back on the finish mower.
Stacey
sat down in the chairs at the pole barn while I tried out the mower. It
seemed to work and the arms were held in place. I guess time will tell
if they will fix the problem.

Blue Grass Festival 2012
We went to the Blue Grass Festival about 5 PM and our first stop was to
set our folding chairs in place and then we went to check out the food
vendors. We sat at the picnic tables and ate while talking with friends
that were just arriving.
We
walked through the vendor area and found our chairs, then sat down and
listened to the first group.
They
were a local group and the crowd knew most of the people that were
playing. After their set was over, another group began playing. They
called themselves Joe
Mullings & the Radio Ramblers and they were a professional act.

Collin Raye Concert
A car club from Russellsprings, KY was having their last car show of the
season so I asked Linda if she wanted to ride up there in the 56 Chevy.
She thought it would be fun so I washed the car while Stacey and Linda
got ready to go. Linda came out and helped dry the windows and grill
while I changed my clothes and then we were ready to go. We arrived at
the show and were told where to park and that they were cooking burgers
and hot dogs for everyone to eat. I took pictures to put on the
Cruiser's web site and we enjoyed the burgers, talking with a few
friends and the beautiful weather. We were putting our chairs in the
trunk of the Chevy getting ready to leave when the announcer called
Linda and Dave Norris and said we had a Top Five Trophy. I was asked to
pull the car up front and get the trophy, which I did.
I
pulled the car back in the parking lot and took a picture of Stacey and
the trophy, then we left and I drove back to the farm. I showered and we
changed clothes, then left and went to pick up Jason. Stephannie and
Tommy took us for a quick look at the apartment that had just been
finished next to their house. Jason's brother, Bryant and his wife to
be, Christy, will live there for a while after they're married later
this month. It will be a nice place to start their life together and
Jason can move in when Christy and Bryant find their own place. We then
left for the ride to Glasgow to see the Collin Raye concert at the
Plaza. We ate at Mancino's and Pauline and Brent met us there with their
kids. They had been in Glasgow on an outing with their kids. We finished
the meal and went to the concert. On the way in, I took the 'standard'
picture of Stacey and Jason with the marquee behind them, then we went
inside and were seated. A girl, that called herself "Imaj", was the
opening act. She sang country themed music and had a nice voice with
quite a bit of tonal range.
Collin
Raye came on stage at 8:30 PM and began singing his hits to get the
audience fired up. It worked.
Collin's
Top 10 Hits are "Every Second" · "In This Life" · "I Want You Bad (And
That Ain't Good)" · "Somebody Else's Moon" · "That Was a River" ·
"That's My Story" · "Little Rock" · "Man of My Word" · "My Kind of Girl"
· "If I Were You" · "One Boy, One Girl" · "Not That Different" · "I
Think About You" · "Love Remains" · "On the Verge" · "What the Heart
Wants" · "Little Red Rodeo" · "I Can Still Feel You" · "Someone You Used
to Know" · "Anyone Else" · "Couldn't Last a Moment"
He
finished the night with "Love, Me" and left the stage with the crowd
standing and applauding. Collin came back and sang one of his new
religious songs and the concert was over.
It
was 10 PM and Colin had played exactly an hour and a half. We walked out
of the theatre and made our way to the car, then rode back towards
Burkesville. We dropped off Jason and continued on home.

Two Day Trip
We decided Thursday evening that we would go to IN Saturday morning.
Saturday,
we left home a few minutes after day light and headed to IN. Traffic was
light and we ordered a pizza and picked it up on the way into Daleville.
We opened Mom's house and went inside, turned on the heat and ate the
pizza. After finishing the pizza and unpacking the car, we went to
Muncie to visit Virginia. Mom was standing near the entrance, waiting to
go outside to smoke. We talked just a few minutes then they came and she
went outside. Surprisingly, she came back in four or five minutes and
was ready to visit with us.
We
sat there in the lobby and talked with Mom, the aides and a few of the
other residents for nearly three hours. There were a few times when the
conversation went bad, but overall it was a good visit. We left and went
back towards Daleville. After a quick stop for a few groceries, we went
to Mom's house and stayed the night.
Sunday morning, Linda made us
sausage biscuits and we straightened up the mess we had made of the
house. A little before 11 AM, we locked the doors and went to Reba's
house in Pendleton. I had Coco on a leash and when Nana opened her door,
Reesey came charging out. Her back hair was bristled, but I was able to
calm her down by talking to her. She and Coco sniffed each other and
soon we were able to go inside without any trouble. Nana was surprised
to see us and a little nervous about the dogs. I kept Coco on a leash
for a while and the dogs settled down and forgot about any tensions
between them. A little later Linda let both of them out in the back yard
and when they came back in, neither dog was bleeding and they both were
good the rest of the visit. We stayed in the kitchen talking and
laughing until Linda said we needed to go. Then we hugged and said bye.
Nana walked out to the curb and kept talking with Linda while I led
Reesey back and forth on a leash. She could learn to lead fairly easy if
someone took the time with her. Reesey wants to be in front and pulling
on the leash instead of walking alongside the person. We said good bye
again and this time we got in the car and drove away. Traffic wasn't too
bad until we were on I-65 between Indy and Louisville. Nothing terrible,
just put the cruise control on, then off, then pass some people, back to
cruising, then off and so on most of the way to Louisville. As usual, we
ate outside on the patio at Kingfish, then back on I-65 to
Elizabethtown. The trip was fairly quick the rest of the way to the
farm. We pulled into the driveway about 5:30 and went inside.
