Easter Egg Hunt 2017

Pauline & Brent had plans to go to a swimming event for Coach Powell at WKU on Saturday, so Linda and Stacey picked up Julie and Kyle after their ball practices. I remained at the farm and mowed. Jennifer's boys, Seth & Josh messaged me and wanted to come over to ride the ATVs. I told them I needed to do a couple of things, but if they'd help to come on over. They replied they were on their way. I needed to cut a tree down at the edge of one of the hay fields that was leaning low into the field. When Seth and Josh arrived, I loaded the chain saw and a chain into the back of the Mule. Seth drove the Mule and I drove the tractor with the scoop to the tree that needed removed. I cut the tree, then Seth and Josh hooked up the chain so I could raise the tree off the ground and carry it to a pile of trees that I had Joey remove a few years ago. I placed the tree on the pile and then we picked up another tree the beavers had cut down. That was the end of the work I had the boys help me to do. We went back to the barn and they traded the Mule for two ATVs. Julie & Kyle arrived when Linda & Stacey returned. Julie wanted to have a fire so we started one in the fire pit and were setting around it as the boys were riding. We roasted hot dogs one of the times Seth & Josh popped back in. Then they took off again. Aw Oh! Josh and Seth returned on the same ATV. Seth had his stuck in the mud. I told them to get the chain we had used earlier and pull it out. Away they went. Josh came back and said Seth had lost the key to the ATV he had been riding. WTHeck? Why had he even taken the key out? I took the tractor with the scoop and drove to the other farm and back into Sondra's hollow. I couldn't believe the place he was trying to drive the ATV through. I told him that the 4 wheel drive tractor I was driving would NOT have went through there and he should NOT have taken the key out. Then I pulled him out backwards. Seth did all the hooking and unhooking the chain as we then had to pull the ATV all the way out of the 'holler', through the creek and up the road to the barn. We pushed it in the barn and went back down to the fire. Seth and Josh stayed a couple more hours with us around the fire pit roasting marsh mallows and drinking pop. When Kyle laid down on the big rocks around the fire, I called the party over.
Sunday morning I went out early and looked for the ATV key. Extremely luckily, I found the key about a quarter of a mile from where Seth thought he had lost it. I contacted Jennifer and let her know I had the key. Pauline and Brent arrived around 8:30 AM. We boiled a dozen eggs while the bunny hid 140 plastic eggs with candy and spare change inside. Once the bunny had the plastic eggs hid, Julie and Kyle were ready to hunt.

As they have aged, they have become faster at finding the eggs. It wasn't long until we counted the eggs and determined that all had been found.

I grilled chicken breasts on the park grill while Linda baked potatoes and corn casserole in the stove that we had hooked up in the pole barn. She like being outside while things were cooking. We added a tossed salad when the food was done and Lind picked up Regina to eat with us. After Regina went back home, we went inside and Julie & Kyle colored the hard boiled eggs before going home with Pauline and Brent.

Friends In Daleville

When everyone left after the egg hunt, Linda and I decided to go to Daleville Monday morning. I fixed egg and ham roll ups before we left about 8:30 AM. The trip went as usual and we arrived at the Daleville house about 4.5 hours later with a pizza. We ate, unloaded the car, hooked up the TV, turned on the water and furnace, then relaxed. Linda and I made a lap around town in the golf cart before dark to check out the progress on the Salem Apartments development and the water park.

Tuesday, Linda and I cleaned up the area in front of the house where we had the old shrubs pulled out. We removed the black plastic and several pieces of the shrub roots, then raked the river rock to level it in the entire area. Stacey and I rode the golf cart to pick up cans that had been tossed out along the roads. As evening was beginning, we headed to Elbert's for Taco Tuesdays. I decided to put the golf cart in the yard barn, but it wouldn't start. When I raised up the seat to look for a problem, Cindy Reed & Jody Ratz were standing behind me and Cindy was in my case about I was supposed to let her know the next time I was in Daleville. Uhh, no reply, caught! We all hugged and went to Taco Tuesday at Elbert's. Cheryl Ballard and Terry Granger came in and joined us. Then Karen Wilson popped in and sat with us. Next, Vicki Fritz pulled up a chair. OMGosh, it was a homecoming it seemed. Stories began circulating with people tossing in comments left and right. People that I hadn't thought about in years were suddenly back in my memories. Then the get together was over and everyone went their separate ways. I put a battery charger on the golf cart battery and let it charge. The cart started and I put it in the yard barn.
Wednesday we went to visit Linda's Mom. We stopped at Jimmy's Dairy Bar and bought sandwiches to eat with Nana. She ate well as we talked. We stayed a little over two hours and then headed back to Daleville. Linda and Stacey went to Kim Bourke's house to see what she was doing while I hung out on the bench in front of Elbert's. I'd rather set outside than be inside a dark bar because I'm mainly over there to visit, not drink. One of the guys working on the water park was telling me that the water park was going to be free access. There will be two stages for music acts to use too. I went back to the house before dark. Linda and Stacey came back around 10 PM.
Thursday, we ate toast for breakfast, loaded up and stopped in Jeffersonville for lunch. King Fish had their parking lot fenced in to deny access to people during the Thunder Over Louisville boat races, so we had difficulty finding our way into the parking area. They charge $495 for a metal table with 4 metal chairs outside on their patio and nothing else during the boat races. We pulled in our driveway at 2:30 PM.

Drone Farm Pics

Linda and I spent Thursday mowing nearly the entire farm because rain was predicted for the next few days. It rained a little Friday, a lot Saturday and most of the day Sunday. Monday was cloudy, then Tuesday the weather cleared. The wind was gone and the sky was partly cloudy, so I decided to take the drone out and get some pics of the farm.
