Kidney Stone
Linda went to work at the school and Stacey and I ate breakfast, then
dressed and headed to Bowling Green. Brent was having a kidney stone
removed and we were going for support. We arrived at the Medical Center
a little before 11 AM. We parked and then walked through the building,
asked where we should go to find Pauline and Brent in the Ambulatory
Surgery Unit and they pointed us in the right direction. We found the
unit and Brent's room.
We
had a little over a half hour to nervously chat with Brent before the
hospital employees took him to the operating room. Pauline, Stacey and I
went downstairs and across the street for lunch at the Subway inside the
hospital, then returned to the surgery reception room. The lady there
notified us that Brent was out of surgery and in the recovery room about
12:45 PM. That was just a little over an hour. The doctor talked to
Pauline and told her that he removed the kidney stone and left a stint
to drain Brent's kidney. Brent stayed in the recovery room for what
seemed like a long time, it was a few minutes after 3 PM when they let
us go in and see how he was doing. He was awake and eating ice to help
the sore throat from the tubes they put down there during the surgery.
They gave Brent a little more pain medication before he ate a few
crackers and drank some clear pop, then the nurse said he could go home.
Pauline was going to pick up the prescriptions and their kids on the way
home, so Brent was going to ride with me. I pulled the HHR around to the
door and they wheeled Brent out and he climbed in the car. We talked a
little on the way back to his house, then went inside. He sat in the
recliner for a while with the TV on. Pauline arrived with the medicine
and the kids. I gave the kids time to love on their Dad while Pauline
packed their clothes and stuff for them to go to the farm with us. Linda
was taking off Friday to take care of the kids. After loading their
things and putting them in the car seats we headed out. I stopped in
Smith's Grove at McDonalds for burgers and we all ate them on the ride
back to the farm.

Julie & Kyle
We began the day with Julie and Kyle eating pancakes and sausage for
breakfast and then playing with toys for a while. Around 10:30 we put
their jackets on them and we all went outside. I drove the Mule and we
let Daisy run around the hay fields while we rode along.
After
the Mule ride, we needed to go to the grocery store, so we loaded into
the HHR and drove to Albany. Linda called in our pizza order at Major's
Pizza and they had it ready when we arrived. We all ate pizza and the
kids played with the pinball and video games until everyone was
finished. We then walked next door to the grocery store. Julie and Kyle
really liked going to that store because they have miniature carts that
we let both of them push through the store. It was like a shopping
train, Linda and Stacey walking with Julie and her cart behind them,
then Kyle pushing his cart, then me pushing the big cart. We checked out
and came back to the farm, put the groceries away and then it was nap
time. Julie, Kyle, Stacey, and Linda laid down for naps. I went to town
and stopped at a new garage they're calling American Street Rod Garage.
When I returned to the farm, Julie and Linda were awake. A little later,
Kyle and Stacey woke up. We ended up the day with another Mule ride
around the farm, stopping to let Julie and Kyle throw rocks into the
creek water. Stacey, Julie and Kyle went into the bedroom to watch a
Disney movie and about 7:30 PM, Stacey came out to the living room and
said that both Julie and Kyle were asleep. Linda moved them to their
beds and they didn't wake up.

Return Trip
Julie was the first to come into the bedroom to watch cartoons, then Kyle pitty patted in and hopped on my lap. It wasn't long till Linda stuck her head around the door to see how things were going. She made French Toast and sausage for breakfast. It is a favorite of Kyle's and he ate two pieces and a sausage. Julie ate good also. We took a Mule ride with the kids still in their pajamas, then returned to the house and gave them baths. We dressed and got the kids ready to go home, then took the HHR to Columbia and ate lunch about 12:30 PM. From there, we drove the Cumberland Parkway to Smith's Grove and on to Pauline and Brent's house. It was nearly 2 PM when we arrived and sent the kids running into the house to see their Mom and Dad. I could tell Brent was still feeling tough and they were both in their pajamas. Julie and Kyle took off like they hadn't missed a beat while we listened to Brent tell us how he was feeling. We stayed a couple of hours, then hugged the kids and said good bye. We rode home in a light rain as darkness set in.

Sweetheart Dinner
Brent surprised us by arriving early with his family. He had not sounded
that good when we talked the night before, so I had thought he would
stay home. After having the stint removed on Friday, he had relapsed
with a spell of pain from the removal and had to have Pauline drive him
home. He told us he was doing pretty well when he arrived at our house
this morning. Jason had invited Stacey to a Sweetheart's dinner to
benefit ER Ministries at the church in Marrowbone, so after Stacey was
dressed, I took her over to the church's assembly hall. Stephanie and
Gloria were fixing take out meals when we arrived. I talked with
Stephanie for a few minutes to make arrangements for Stacey to ride home
with Hazel and Odis when the dinner was over, then I returned to the
farm.
Hazel
and Odis brought Stacey back to the farm a few minutes before 6 PM and
dropped her off. Stacey told us that it was a nice dinner and that she
had fun. We were eating home made pizza and she picked up Pico and
talked while we finished eating.

Stomach Flu
Soon after Julie and Kyle left the farm with their parents, Linda began getting sick. Through the night she was experiencing the wrath of a stomach flu virus. She stayed home from work on Monday and slept most of the day. By Monday evening, I was starting to feel the symptoms in my belly and before the night was over I was sick with the flu too. Linda went to work Tuesday and I drifted in and out of sleep most of the day, spending most of the time asleep. Linda came home from work and I had been eating ice chips to keep my throat moist. She brought home some groceries, including my favorite remedy for when I'm sick, orange sherbet. I asked for two aspirins and one scoop of sherbet and she brought it to me. The sherbet tasted so good, but when it hit my stomach, I wasn't sure I should have ate it. A little later, Linda fixed something for Stacey and her and I thought the smell of it was going to make me sick again. I held it together though. Wednesday morning, I woke feeling better, but sore and stiff, like someone had beat me while I was sleeping. Linda said she had felt the same way. During the day, as I began moving around, the soreness went away and I'm feeling OK. I guess we're both about over it, now we're back to eating but going slow on the liquids.

Just Stuff
A few things have been changing around here. The TVA visited and we have settled with them, we cashed their check and put the money in the bank. Their plans weren't as bad as we thought they would be, no poles in the fields, just on top of the hill. Now we will just wait and see how long it takes them to construct their high voltage power lines. Linda is no longer substituting at the grade school every day. We cut some firewood that the loggers had left laying and Stacey and I split it and stacked it in the wood shed. I've finished my work on the web site for the American Street Rod Garage and they are putting the finishing touches on it themselves. Several people have remarked this has been the mildest winter they can remember. The early flowers are up and blooming, the grass is turning green, but I expect more cold weather to appear shortly.

Infected Web Server
I ran into trouble last week when my anti-virus software began reporting infections. This blog and several other of the web sites I created were affected by php scripts being compromised. After several days of the web server Brent and I use being infected with the HTML:script-inf, Brent has found the infections and removed them. Things should be back to normal now.
